Karolin - Centre for Polish Folklore

The Christmas season is rich in tradition and December in Poland is a time of anticipation and preparation for many. Find out more about Polish Christmas traditions at the Centre for Polish Folklore this December, on this special tour of our permanent exhibition.

Create unique, handpainted glass baubles based on folk craft from the Warmia region, where Christmas trees started to appear by the start of the twentieth century. This workshop - part of the Karolin Christmas Market - is suitable for adults and children alike.

The annual Karolin Christmas market is back, so join us for a weekend filled with festive spirit! Get ahead with your Christmas shopping, sample local specialities and join our Christmas craft workshops. On both days we’ll also be showing Mazowsze’s signature Christmas production, "Betlejem Polskie".

Get into the Christmas spirit and create a stunning wreath with natural foliage, ribbons, pine cones and dried fruit. This workshop is suitable for adults and children alike.

Join us on 30 November to experience the traditions and culture of the Warmia region. We’ll be discovering its fascinating history, hosting an embroidery workshop and inviting you to dance the evening away! Join us on 20 October for a unforgettable trip to the Polish coast! We'll be taking a close look at traditional Kashubian instruments and folk crafts, discovering this region's unique heritage. Prepare to be singing, playing and decorating as part of what promises to be a fascinating family workshop.

Chcemë le so zażëc! (Let's take some snuff!) is an invitation to take part in what is considered to be a key element of Kashubian culture. Join us on Saturday 19 October for a special workshop to uncover the secrets of Kashubian tobacco and its role in local culture.

The Centre for Polish Folklore invites you to visit our permanent exhibition on 5 and 6 October, as part of the Senior Citizens’ Weekend with Culture. Entry is free of charge for senior citizens for the whole weekend. There will also be a special intergenerational dance workshop held at 3pm on Sunday 6 October.
