The Christmas season is rich in tradition and December in Poland is a time of anticipation and preparation for many. Find out more about Polish Christmas traditions at the Centre for Polish Folklore this December, on this special tour of our permanent exhibition.

Create unique, handpainted glass baubles based on folk craft from the Warmia region, where Christmas trees started to appear by the start of the twentieth century. This workshop - part of the Karolin Christmas Market - is suitable for adults and children alike.

The annual Karolin Christmas market is back, so join us for a weekend filled with festive spirit! Get ahead with your Christmas shopping, sample local specialities and join our Christmas craft workshops. On both days we’ll also be showing Mazowsze’s signature Christmas production, "Betlejem Polskie".

Chcemë le so zażëc! (Let's take some snuff!) is an invitation to take part in what is considered to be a key element of Kashubian culture. Join us on Saturday 19 October for a special workshop to uncover the secrets of Kashubian tobacco and its role in local culture.

The Centre for Polish Folklore invites you to visit our permanent exhibition on 5 and 6 October, as part of the Senior Citizens’ Weekend with Culture. Entry is free of charge for senior citizens for the whole weekend. There will also be a special intergenerational dance workshop held at 3pm on Sunday 6 October. Join us in Karolin for a special reading of Juliusz Słowacki's Kordian, as part of the 2024 National Reading campaign. Initiated in 2012 by the Polish Presidential Couple, the campaign invites schools, public institutions, social and cultural centres and individuals to take part, uniting people around reading and deepening understanding of Polish literature.
