Karolin by night - visit the Centre for Polish Folklore
In folk tradition, there are many moments when everyday order is upset. In the past, Carnival, Shrovetide, and the summer solstice were times at which the normal laws of nature could be suspended and the world would turn upside down. Karolin will bear witness to many strange happenings during the Night of Museums… join us to see our collections in a different light! Entry to the Centre for Polish Folklore will be free of charge between 5pm and 10pm.
Backstage tours of Mazowsze's Concert Hall
During this year’s Night of Museums, join our guides on a special backstage tour of Mazowsze Ensemble’s Concert Hall. Visit the costume rooms of one of the largest folk-inspired ensembles in the world, admire unique examples of traditional dress and find out about life as an artist in Karolin. The tour will include a visit to the auditorium and rehearsal spaces used daily by Mazowsze’s members.

Archival film footage of Mazowsze Ensemble - screening
A special film screening will be held at the Centre for Polish Folklore at 8pm. We’ll be showing a range of archival footage and films documenting the history and activities of Mazowsze Ensemble. They’ll provide a point of entry into discussions about the company’s beginnings and the first years of its work. We’ll be joined by retired artists- longstanding members of the ensemble- who will talk about Mazowsze’s growth and development, their careers at Karolin and memorable moments on and offstage.
